Virgin Mobile UK

Virgin Mobile UK is a subsidiary of Virgin Media that provides mobile service to the UK.  It was originally a joint venture between the Virgin Group and T-Mobile but Virgin Group bought out its partner in January of 2004.

Virgin Mobile UK does not own its own network, but instead still holds a contract with T-Mobile for use of its airwaves so those who sign into a contract with the company can expect reasonably full coverage throughout the UK as well as fastest speeds due to T-Mobile’s pledge to increase broadband speeds in the next year.

The company used to exclusively only offer pay as you go mobiles so for those who want to purchase a mobile without a contract it is one of the largest providers of the pay as you go contracts.  With deals as low as £8.95 depending on how many minutes you plan to use for the occasional mobile user the deal is not that bad.

The rates for the pay as you go plans are not too bad either as the purchase of just £20 a month can buy you unlimited texting and data plan or for £15 a month you can get 600 free texts.  The flat rate for all mobile calls is 20p so you may want to consider your usual minute usage before signing up.

For those who like the perks of the Virgin Mobile UK service such as entertainment updates and regular free add-ons available to exclusive customers, the mobile provider also now offers a monthly contract that comes complete with a mobile phone and contracts as low as £8.95 a month.
